In the truest sense, nothing should be treated as good or bad. I know it is easier said than done but when we categorize things as good or bad, such classifications create inner conflicts that make us link our happiness to things, people, situations we see as good.
When we are able to develop the same reaction to all of life and accept all things as they are, we come to that experience and enjoyment of every moment of life; we find beauty in all things as we apply our best efforts towards achieving our goals. Life becomes peaceful regardless of all the “noise” around us. We see and observe things that always eluded us – the simple pleasures of life.

What I’ve found is this…
From the little things like the smell of your favorite perfume to big things like landing a mega-contract, life always finds a way to make you smile; Now, whether you notice these things (the little things especially) or not is another thing entirely.
Most of the time, we get lost in our quest for the big things in our new year resolution that we forget to appreciate the little pleasure of life, eventually, life loses its ethereal quality to us.

25 Simple Pleasures of Life
If you can, take a moment to remember the beautiful feelings attached to every memory that you relate to as you read them. Shall we?
1. Watching the sunrise

Arguably there is nothing more exquisite than the burst of colors in the sky as the sun rises above the horizon.
2. The feel of the wind against your skin:

You most definitely have been stuck in a stuffy or hot place for a while, did you take note of how you felt when you finally made it outside? The feel of the breeze? Yeah! That’s a pleasure right there.
3. Taking a shower:

Yes, you come back from a long day at work and head straight for the shower. The pressure of water brings relief to your tense muscles even as it washes the day’s stress away. Appreciate it.
4. Having someone compliment you

You’re walking down the street and someone says they love your hair or your shoes, anything at all. The smile that comes in response to that, did you work for it? Or when your boss tells you he likes something you’ve done. That feeling that goes through it, did you appreciate it?

5. Getting a text from a lover

You don’t ever want to get to that point where you don’t appreciate those little back and forth texts. Sometimes it gives you just the boost you need to get your day going.
6. Watching a movie on your day off:

Others are at work and what are you doing? Seeing a movie, Yay! Be glad.
7. Sleeping in

The joy of waking up after sunrise! Not to encourage you to be lazy but, sometimes you need to sleep in, let those lids rest. Enjoy the feeling that comes with it too!
8. Being indoors while it’s raining:

You get to enjoy the smell, sound, and sight of the rain without getting wet. What’s sweeter than that?
9. Meeting up with friends:

After a week of drilling at work, what’s greater euphoria is there than relaxing with your friends.
10. The beach:
Now that’s pleasure overload!

You get the sound of the waves, the calmness that comes with that endless space that reminds you that you’re a part of something beautiful. Now imagine watching the sunrise at the beach!
11. Dancing on your own:

Now! Some of us can’t dance to save our life, but we do have great dancing skills, It just doesn’t manifest while anyone is around. Enjoy your show in private!
12. Singing in the shower:

Hit those high notes and pretend you are this generation’s Whitney Houston or Celine Dion.
13. Getting a gift:

How do those unexpected gifts make you feel? It doesn’t have to be something expensive, knowing that someone thought of you long enough to get you a gift makes you feel very special!

14. Giving a gift:

As nice as it is to get a gift, buying a gift for someone brings a greater measure of joy. Knowing they’ll feel special makes us feel on top of the world!
15. Finding a shade on a sunny day:

So you’ve been under the scorching sun for while, you look up and see a shade not so far away. How great is the relief of getting out from under the sun!
16. Coming home to a cooked meal:

For some, this is the norm, every day they come home to a sumptuous meal. Others don’t have that luxury as it is an occasional thing for them. Whether you get it every day or once in a while appreciate a good meal every time you get one.
17. Having clean clothes to wear:
Have you ever been so busy that you forgot to wash? Remember how you felt?

Now, remember that feeling every time you find clean clothes to wear and smile!
18. A fresh bed sheet:

I definitely love the feel of a fresh bed sheet on my back. You?
19. Your favorite team winning a match:

That rush of dopamine is something to live for.
20. Laughing:

Be it with your spouse, a friend, a colleague, or an acquaintance. Finding something to laugh about and having someone to laugh with is no doubt one of the many pleasures of life.
21. A cold drink on a hot day:

That has to give one of the best feelings. Ice-cold water on a sunny day would have me thanking the universe for the invention of the refrigerator.
22. Reading a good book:

Finishing a good book is a divine experience. It’s God’s gift to nature!
23. Having the house to yourself:

This is one of my personal favorite things, the peace that comes with it. My greatest ideas come from these times of solitude.
24. Getting a hug:

The comfort, the warmth, the connection! Need I say more? Hug someone today and see for yourself.
25. Watching the sun set:
If you miss the sunrise, the sunset is another graceful show of colors across the sky. What better motivation could you ask for, watch the sunset and be grateful that whatever you have done that day is good?

If it’s not good enough, there will be another sunrise the next day and you could pick up from where you left off.
Even as you chase the big things of life and work to be a better person, never get to the point where you get carried away and forget to take time to appreciate the little pleasures of life.
