How long have you been in that job? It is still not secured

I know one man who worked thirty (30) years of his life in a chocolate producing company. He got a lot of promotions throughout this journey of years. Life was great for him and his family. He always brings goodies home so much that even his dogs enjoy good foods with a lot of soft bones.

Then gradually, the company begin to have issues. They started to lay off workers. He escaped the first few layoffs but his salary was slashed. Eventually, he was also sacked few months after. Ever since then, I could see poverty and struggling set in the face of the family. But then, I know his children will change the status quo.

Another story of a manager who loses his job

I also know a man with about five (5) children who were living large. He was the manager of a petrol station until the day he invited his colleagues to check out his newly built house. He was sacked the day after that day. He had to start from square one.

Do you even know how it feels to have a big house and still have to struggle to have three square meals per day? – Especially if the children are used to living an extravagant life.

Leaving your job to start your business isn’t secured too

Well, I have also seen those people who left their high paying jobs to be their own boss and ended up regretting the action. They thought their business idea will start to vomit enough money that can foot their bills immediately they start but it was the other way round – it was sucking out their savings.

They hated the 9am to 5pm job but when they get to be their own boss, they spend almost 20hours to figure things out. That is what being your own boss brings along especially for startups.

But….

If you read this article to the end, I will show you how to retain that job and also build your own business along with it until your business is matured enough to stand alone – then, you can leave your job conveniently.

Jobs will suck you out!

No matter how much you make as an employee; no matter how long you have worked for that company, you can’t stay with them forever – the maximum you can go with them is until you retire. That is when you will get to know that a job is designed to suck you out.

Your eyes will be open to the fact that you are now on your own. So, all the time you have spent as an employer doesn’t even give you a time to think about your own life. All you are concerned about is how to be effective so that you can get promotions and not also lose the job. Other times, you want to avoid queries from your boss.

Jobs will suck you out

Here is my solution – it works like magic

Above all, the major factor that does the magic is ‘Time’ because everything boils down to how to manage one’s time effectively.  People are always busy even if they are just busy doing nothing, they are still busy – smiles. I hope you are not part of the ‘too busy’ gang. I hope you are using your time very judiciously to fix important things.

I work as a site manager for a construction company and I have to resume work on or before 8 am. For my closing time, it is not fixed. The nature of the job of the day determines the closing time and most of the time, it can take longer than expected. So let’s just say that I am not in control of my closing time.

But I have a principle that doesn’t make this irregular work schedule bothers me. Aside from my job, I am also my own boss and also a partner to a car dealing company – that is about three streams of income. Do you care to know the principle?

If anyone steals your day, do not let them steal your night!

omaa

It is as simple as this. Factor your time in such a way that it creates time for you to do your own thing. If you can create at least two to four hours daily to focus on yourself and what is important to you, it will add up on the long run. I can boldly say this

But I am supposed to be sleeping by night, why cheat nature?

One thing I have noticed about the day time is that you have little control over it. Work will take a large portion of it – anything can as well show up unexpectedly. Besides, you have to create time for personal relationships with your loved ones too.

So it is evident that you have little control over the daytime. But at night or very early in the morning when people are asleep, that is the sure time I am talking about. It is a time you can devote to anything that will make you be your boss without losing your job.

I start my day at 4 am

By 4 am, I am already awake and before then, I already make sure I sleep on or before 12midnight. As soon as I am awake, I spend quality time to read books that will enrich, inform, and educate me. Then I also take time to do some other important things to me. By the time I am done, I quickly do my morning exercise, prepare for the day, and set out for work.

use a Me Time

That is how I manage to be my own boss without losing my job.

Lastly, why is this even important to anyone?

I was checking through Facebook posts and I saw a headline of an article which says that

Salary is a bribe

Anonymous

It is funny, right? But then, it is true. It is more like bribing you so that you can give away your time and abilities for a company.

Let me also mention that aside from the incomes it brings along, the satisfaction I get from it cannot be compared with anything. I go into a day very energetic and fulfilled. The smile I wear daily is because something is working underground.

So, go ahead to be your own boss without losing your job.
