You’d be thinking why I’m asking this question when it is said that too much thinking is bad for our health. Right?
“If you think too much, it can cause hypertension and high blood pressure”
The statement above is true and there are series of statistics. In fact, a journal on www.Journals.lww.com projected that by 2030, the case of hypertension in Nigeria will have increased to 39.1milion among 20year old and above.
Well, the fact that we were asked not to do too much thinking doesn’t stop us from thinking at all, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t put our brain to work; it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t analyze situations.
Let me reframe to say that thought that can affect health negatively applies to those who think in the wrong direction. It has been proven that re-routing our thoughts and belief is a better healing process to illness and diseases than taking treatments and drops in the hospital. NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) is proof of this and I highly recommend it for every human.
In other words, your kind of thoughts determines your state of health. Alright?
Let’s talk about thinking in the right direction
Assuming you got caught up in a problem or a situation and you really need to solve it; you know a lot of thoughts will run through your mind at that time. Right? At the end of the day, you eventually got a solution; you placed it into practice. Sometimes, it works out, and sometimes, you regret your actions but it didn’t work out and it has cost you a lot.
Here is the question
Why do you think many solutions run through your mind while trying to solve a problem in the first place? Do you think it’s just for you to only pick one out of many solutions? No, your mind brings many solutions so you’d have a chance to compare and contrast these solutions. Not just that, whatever outcome you get through a problem-solving process is an experience that can bring you more money. It is a learning process. Don’t take failures too personal. Take it as feedback that should be worked on.

Haven’t you heard
That there are people who became rich because of their resilience through the problem-solving process. I know it is easy to say before the light-bulb could be created, there were 999 mistakes but do you know how much resilience it takes for someone to still believe in something that has failed 999 times.
What if he didn’t continue?
What if after the 20th attempt, he stopped trying and believed it is not possible?
What if he gave up during his last attempt before it eventually worked out?
He wouldn’t have been recognized today or he could have been mocked for wasting his time. In fact, he himself could write a book to prove that it is impossible to create a light bulb. You can go ahead to think of the further effect this can bring.
Here is thing..
At every of his failure, he stops to think of a better way to go about this, and eventually, it worked.
Whatever solution that comes to your mind while trying to solve a problem needs thorough thinking before applying it.
Please note; I am not asking you to overthink till you get high blood pressure, all I am saying is sit, relax, calm down, drop the problem, focus on the solution, think about the consequences of applying the solution, think about the risk attached to that solution if it’s really worth taking.
Do you know some solutions are just solution-like, they are not real solutions, and they only give you the feeling that the problem is solved? You will get to know after applying them and realize the problem still remains. I know one way or the other you would have said “I wish I didn’t do it that way”, you would have regretted your approach towards solving a problem.
Anyways, actions taken already are for the past, thoughts running are for the future. How about you think about your thoughts before putting them into action.

I know it is not easy to think. Thinking on its own is hard work. In fact, it consumes a lot of energy. Have you ever noticed that you get hungry any time you do intellectual work? But you must cultivate the habit of thinking. It can be learned.
Human naturally is an irrational being whether you like it or not. People do things even when they don’t want to do them. A trigger is enough for them to take the irrational decision but a simple thought process can be of advantage.
