Addicted to what? You might want to ask?
Oh! So you think you are not addicted to that Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram?
How many hours do you spend on those social handles per day? Just try to calculate it.
Do you remember those times you wanted to do something on your Instagram and ended up scrolling and scrolling until after about 20minutes before you remember that you had a purpose for logging into Instagram? I am very sure it has happened to you too.

Did you know that these social platforms are designed just to get you addicted to them?
If you stay to the end, I will show you how they eventually get to do that and succeeded in doing it. Not just that, I will also like to show you how to apply this to your business or anything you want to drive attention to. I am sure you want to get continuous attention to what you do as well. Right?
What happens when you exhaust your data?
For me, my phone just feels useless especially because I don’t play games and I also don’t watch movies often. My body always feels like something is missing and so I will be hissing frequently. Some people will just be restless. Sometimes, I will fall back to all my unread messages on WhatsApp and respond to them all. Then I will finally land in my gallery.
When next you don’t have data, pay attention to how you behave. You will see that it is proven beyond reasonable doubt that surfing the net is part of your habit.
Some features on these Apps are added as a trigger
Let me explain something to you today. Please try as much as possible to keep it safe because it is very important.
If you see anyone who is addicted to something or when something becomes a habit, it simply means that the person is no more in control of that action.
Wait! let me explain.
If something becomes your habit, it is because there is a ‘process’ that has been stored unconsciously in your mind. It is not just stored there; it is placed on autopilot. Two things controls it
- Trigger: in other words, it is called ‘cue’. It is self-explanatory but I will still explain for you to understand better.
Anyone who is addicted to Pepsi will most definitely have a trigger that automatically reminds him/her that
Boy, it is now time to take a bottle of Pepsi.
The trigger can just be sweat. As soon as you start sweating, the need to take a Pepsi set in. For some people, it is just stress. As soon as you feel you are stressed out, a need to take a Pepsi set in. For some people, it is an achievement; if they can achieve a goal for the day, Pepsi serves as compensation.
There is always a cue to every habit and addiction but you just don’t notice. Find out.
omaa
WhatsApp has a trigger too; let me show you
Do you know why you always check WhatsApp status frequently?
It is because there is trigger attached to it that makes you want to check it. It always keeps you on suspense. It is as simple as a dot. I bet you didn’t notice that that was why it was added.
You see that dot after the ‘STATUS’ in the picture above, it is a cue. It is simply there to lure you to check out what is new. It is saying ‘guy! Someone just uploaded something and you don’t want to miss it. Check it out now!’
That trigger is enough to let you spend a long time checking out the status – ordinary dot. Smiles
- Pleasure: a trigger does its job well but that is still not enough. There is an adage that says
You can only force a camel to the river. You can’t force him to drink water
Well, this is very true but we can still force the camel to drink the water in a way. How?
I will explain; just follow me
The trigger is ‘you’ trying to force a camel to the river but that is not enough. If we really want the Camel to drink the water by force, we need to let the Camel see the pleasures that is attached to drinking the water.
That is what addicted people do. For you to steal a meat in a pot, you must have already salivated and ate the meat in your mind. That pleasure you long to have will compel you to steal the meat the more.
Some smokers will say “I act matured and bold after I smoke a stick”. So if they want to act matured or bold, they just go straight ahead to smoke. That is a pleasure doing the magic.

In conclusion
These ingredients are what Mark used to make us addicted. Do you think he is that generous to give you free access to Facebook when he started ‘Free mode’?
Or do you think Opera Mini is that generous to give you free 50MB per day? Do you know how much that cost?
They are simply trying to say that you have to get used to their App or website. They want you to be addicted by force by fire.
This is a bonus for you
Find a trigger and a pleasure that will always compel your targeted audience or customers to stay close to you until they are addicted and make sure you take good care of them. Will you?

The same strategy you used to lure me here to read the full post.
Social media is really hitting us bad(youth), we won’t see the affects now. The aftermath of social media carelessness ll be bad and tough. We all should try and not be addicted. By also putting down a strategy for yourself to get control of it. 1. By not buying data for weeks
2. By uninstalling irrelevant social media app
There are some good addictions Bello. Some people are addicted to social media using it for great things. Some people are making millions from it.
For your second point, it is possible. I also take social media breaks myself.
