Human beings vary in their sense of approval. This is why someone’s validation may be another’s disapproval. It is not possible to please everyone.
This accounts for the beauty of the human race.
Everyone longs for acceptance (everybody wants to be important), people get their feeling of importance through various means but the one way which most people sort to get their feeling of importance is when others make them important. Right?
For teenagers and young adults, the longing to belong and do what everyone else is doing is of high intensity.
Personally, in my early teen years, I wanted to go into a relationship because my mates were taking that path.
So, I wanted to feel that I belonged to the same world as that they belonged to.
I started crushing on girls sporadically and asking them out at the same velocity – remember I wanted to get that feeling of being important too.
Guess what I received in return?
Did I really get that feeling?
Your guess is as good as mine, what I got in return was REJECTION.
Yes, what i got in return was rejection by all those I loved. Sincerely it hurts to be rejected and the feeling that accompanies it is what you can term DEMEANING and SELF-DESTRUCTING.
