Symptoms of Lack of Personal Development
Personal development is inevitable. But sometimes, people may not know if they lack adequate personal development.
This is why I have crafted these statements you are about to read. It will take you through the journey of self-assessment so that you will know if you truly need personal development.
Pay Attention as you read the statements!!!
- How I wish I could just be like her. The way she walks, talks, dresses; everything about her is just superb and very alluring.
- Sometimes I just look at myself and felt like going far away from this world, where it will be difficult to meet people. To have a new start or to be alone; to be free from this world stuff.
- Everything about this life is just competition – so many competitions. One thing I’ve learned so far in this world is that you just have to be competitive. Before you belong to some classes of people; before you can talk; and the worst of it all is that before you have a say in this world, you just have to be competitive
- Damn it! Sometimes, I feel like the world should just come to an end because I’m tired; I feel worthless. Do you too?
- Sometimes, I feel like contributing to an issue in a group of people but as soon as I look around to see the faces of the people and their reactions, I feel embarrassed.
Do you know why?
I begin to weigh the worth of these people. Several thoughts begin to creep in. Like…
“How will I be able to face him. He is my teacher, won’t I f*ck up like this? What if i blow blunder?”
Suddenly i am short of words. Then the words refuse to come out. I no longer have anything in mind; everything i have in mind to say just disappears.
- Why am I this weak? I don’t even have a skill. I am not good at anything; I don’t make money for myself. Do I really need to be in this world? Because my friends are way better than I do

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms…
You are not alone
I want you to know today that you’re not the only one facing this problem and you won’t be the last person. If you feel left out in the school, church, or even at home, and it seems you’re not needed everywhere you go, you are not the only one that feels this way.
I know It can be somehow tiring and frustrating.

It’s not that easy to be among the people you so much cherish and love only to get to know that they don’t reciprocate it. It may even seem as if some of them don’t want you to be in their midst. They shun you because they feel that you have nothing to offer.
But this is what I want you to know
I was once in your shoe! I have the knowledge of what you’re going through and I will like to help if you want me too.
Follow me through to the end. I have a solution for you.
Many people are ignorant of something in life. that…
There are some important aspects of your life you must be concerned about. One of which is our personal development.
There’s this statement I really love. The statement keeps me moving on my journey through self-development. It says…
LEARN, UNLEARN and RELEARN.
These three words are the foundation of what personal development is all about. There are things you constantly need to learn. You have to unlearn some – they don’t deserve to be in your memory but since you can’t erase your memory like your phone, what you can do is to unlearn them – to replace them with the new version you just learn, which is better. Also, there are some things you need to learn over and over again.
For example, you need to constantly build your self-esteem.
What does personal development have to do with the symptoms above?
It has a lot to do with what you’re facing. so I will just urge you to read on
My definition of personal development (or self-development) is the act of improving, nurturing, and developing yourself in some areas where you are lagging and improving in the areas you are good at.

Personal development isn’t a joke at all. It requires that you take a step at a time.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT is a key to SUCCESS and success attract many things
For instance, when you’re successful, be sure you’re going to have many people strolling around you because no one wants to be with a wretched fellow.
- You attract people of your Calibre the most
- Successful people find it easier to talk and people listen
- You feel free to go anywhere you wish to as long as it is important
- Successful people know their worth. You set your boundaries and people respect it
What will happen if you don’t develop yourself
- Low self-esteem: you’ll always be shy to talk to people because you don’t know your worth; you don’t appreciate yourself; you don’t even ace a worth on yourself. Build your self-image
- You will attract people of your Calibre: You don’t expect Aliko Dangote to be friends with a security officer. Right? It becomes hard to be a favourite of someone who is doing very well in life if you have still not gotten yourself developed.
- You will regard comparison more than development: You shouldn’t compare yourself with others. Those who understand who they are know that they are unique and there can never be anyone exactly like them. Because on their journey through self-development, they found their uniqueness and they build on it.

So, you shouldn’t compare yourself with others. Rather, develop yourself in the areas you’re lagging in so that you can be the best version of yourself.
Because when you be the best version of yourself, even those you’re comparing with will be happy to be with you – although, they might be jealous.
Basic TIPS for PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
- Do what makes you happy always
- Always appreciate yourself after doing what you love doing
- Place a value on yourself because you are worth more than this world
- Always wear a smile no matter what comes your way.
- Learn, unlearn and Relearn
